Sierra Gardens

Located in the heart of historic midtown Elizabeth, Sierra Gardens, directly across from the Elizabeth Branch YMCA main building, was created to provide families and individuals with low cost, affordable housing. All applicants are reviewed prior to admission to the community based upon the requirements of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.  Sierra Gardens is not subsidized housing and the rents are not subject to change based on income.   For more information and an application contact: Addy Nunes, 908-354-5455.

The Residents Program

Rental rooms are available to men ages 18 and older at the main branch. Residents have use of laundry facilities, air conditioned lounge with color TV, restrooms with showers, and use of all health and fitness facilities of the YMCA

The Madison House

For over 10 years, the Madison House has provided temporary housing in a safe and caring environment for female heads of household and their children. Referrals are received from county agencies. We provide:

• Case Management
• Counseling Services
• Child Care
• Health Services
• Employment and Training Assistance

The Step–Up Program

This program is an extension of The Madison House, offering our families a transitional housing arrangement.  The families continue to receive the comprehensive support and resources to become self – sufficient and independent.

The Step Up program is located in 2 beautiful newly renovated houses at 110 and 114 Madison Avenue.
