March 24 is American Diabetes Association Alert Day, and with 26 million people suffering from diabetes and 86 million people having prediabetes, The Gateway Family YMCA urges everyone to learn their risks and take action to prevent the disease.

Prediabetes is a condition in which individuals have blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with prediabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

RSI Bank Partners with The Gateway Family YMCA

RAHWAY, NEW JERSEY (March, 2015) — RSI Bank is partnering with The Gateway Family YMCA – Rahway Branch to provide $10,000 in funding to further the Y’s cause through programs for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. On behalf of D. Russell Taylor, President and CEO of RSI Bank, Ann Zwiebel Revaitis, Executive Vice President, presented a donation in early February to Krystal R. Canady, Chief Executive Officer of The Gateway Family YMCA at the Rahway Branch, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway.

The Gateway Family YMCA Receives Support from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway

RAHWAY, NEW JERSEY (February, 2015) — Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway presented a generous donation to The Gateway Family YMCA – Rahway Branch for a naming opportunity in the cardiovascular fitness center at the recently renovated YMCA facility, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway. The donation, presented by Kirk C. Tice, President & CEO of RWJ Rahway to Krystal R. Canady, CEO of The Gateway Family YMCA, will provide an opportunity for RWJ Rahway to showcase their dedication to the community and the YMCA.

The Gateway Family YMCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, health and community service organization of caring staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing quality services to people of all ages, races, faiths or incomes.

The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of community.
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT – Nurturing the potential of every child and teen through child care, afterschool child care, day camp, sports, arts, learn to swim, teen and health and well-being classes.
FOR HEALTHY LIVING – Improving the nation’s health and well-being with programs and membership for youth, teens, adults, seniors and families. Programs include: yoga, zumba, volleyball, basketball, tae kwon do, arthritis, dance, health assessments, personal training, diabetes prevention, swimming and adult and child learn to swim.
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Giving back and providing support for our neighbors. The Y has supportive housing for individuals and families, Adult Day Care, Financial Assistance along with community engagement.

The Gateway Family YMCA offers Free memberships to 7th grade students as part of the 7th Grade Initiative of NJ YMCA's.
